Chinese New Year dive

Daring Duck organized Xiamen's First New Year Dive on February 10th, Chinese New Year's Day. The event was held at the beach near the YeFengZhai amusement park. After weeks of preparation, looking for sponsors, a band to perform at our stage on the beach, and participants willing to join, we finally kicked off the Chinese Year of the Snake with a typical Dutch tradition: a quick dip in the sea.
Thanks to our sponsors The Chinese Red Cross, Transworld Swimming Club, Gailang swimwear, Seal wetsuits, and Nestlé China, we could make this event a success, and could offer our participants not only a refreshing start of the new year, but also live music, a warm commemorative hat, and hot chocolate.
A big applause to the Chinese and foreign participants (including some Dutch veterans) who dared to dip into the chilly surf and thanks to the hundreds of spectators to cheer them on. New Year's Day in China is traditionally a day to spend with your family in your hometown, so next year we will do it on January 1st. In any case, an event to be repeated!
