That's my Xiamen number. I needed a new local number, not only because using my Nanning number is more expensive outside of Guangxi province, but more importantly I need a local number to get internet access. The internet provider is affiliated with China Mobile, and they both use the account info for shared registration. Without a local registration you can not get internet connection to your home. My landlord does not have a computer, so there is no internet connection. However, there is a telephone cable directly to my room, which can be used for ADSL. I ordered a one year subscription today (2M at 600 RMB for the whole year, plus 58 RMB for a modem). I have been using open WiFi networks the past days, but they come and disappear at random, so that's not a permanent solution. I should have my private connection within a few days.
