Picked up my health certicficate today. It's more like a health passport. A 8-page booklet with gold imprint on a red cover.
On its 8 pages, it covers all aspects of my current medical status, both in Chinese and English. Even my temperature is stated, as if it's a fixed number. Almost all non-numeric entries are either "Normal" or "No abnormal findings", except one. The "Abdomen Ultrasound" section specifies "Gallbladei neoplasm" (including spelling mistake). I had no idea what gallbladder neoplasm is, but a quick search on Wikipedia redirects to gallbladder cancer, which worries me a bit. It says: "Gallbladder cancer is a relatively uncommon cancer. It has peculiar geographical distribution being common in central and South America, central and eastern Europe, Japan and northern India" and "The incidence of gallbladder cancer is alarmingly increasing in China".
I Don't know what to make of this. If they really diagnosed me with gallbladder cancer, they would let me know, right? On the other hand, the final page says:
"No quarantinable disease, infectious disease under surveillance or any other disease which is highly dangerous to the public health has been found".
Which makes clear once more that in China the government is more concerned with the public as a whole than the individual. So maybe I should get a second opinion...
