These words are not part of the vocabulary I'm learning from my teacher, but nonetheless I got to know them, because they sometimes show up in messages I receive on my mobile phone, or just in spoken language. They all start with a small 口 (kou), which is not surprising, since "kou" means "mouth", and these words all represent a verbal expression of emotion:
啊 à! (aha!)
哦 o! (oh!)
唉 ài (oh, OK)
嗯 mm (OK then)
哼 hmmp (moan)
哎呀 aiya! (oh no!)
哎哟 aiyo! (ouch!)
呵呵 hehe (giggle)
哈哈 haha (laughter)
