Calligraphic doodling

This weekend I was trying out my calligraphy brush on a piece of paper to see if I could produce something which vaguely resembles the style of calligraphy that I admire. These doodlings don't have much to do with calligraphy at all, but do nicely on my pristine white walls.
I got the idea of just doing something random after last week's dinner with my favourite teachers Li Yong Mei and Xie Ping, who both played around with my calligraphy utensils, but my own attempts to produce good-looking Chinese characters failed miserably. I can write my name decently enough, but that's about it, so these scribbles will do for the time being. They certainly add some atmosphere to my room, and people have been asking already what it means, which is always a good conversation starter :)
